Vision

Global Health Scholars

While 2020 marks the debut of Vision Global Health Scholars, the experience is based on Vision's 6 years of programming, 5 years of mentoring chapters, and 4 years of hosting conferences. The Vision Global Health Scholars replaced our high school chapters starting in 2020.

The Vision Global Health Scholars program takes a holistic, interdisciplinary, and multifaceted approach to student engagement with global health topics. Whether you are unsure about your future career or have a specific goal in mind, this program is meant to provide an enriching experience that will benefit your future. We hope to provide a foundation for students to develop the expertise to confront the numerous challenges and opportunities of the future. We hope to help students learn to communicate, collaborate, and innovate. Students hoping to participate in this program, should expect it to be a main extracurricular activity. Scholar Highlights

Vision Network

Scholars work alongside university students to create enriching opportunities for high school students. This connection includes college and medical school students.

Professional Development

Begin taking the steps toward your desired career or discover those interests through the program. Students will learn about resume and cover letter writing, communication courtesy, and interview strategies. We'll try and connect you with students who can give you insight into requirements and acommplishments. Vision's base is Harvard College where our undergraduate students plan the annual Global Health and Leadership Conference. Our Founder is a current Medical Student at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Academic Curricula

Our goal is to provide a holistic program. Students will engage with several activities such as essay writing, content review, and exams to improve essay writing, reading comprehension, and analytic ability.

Community Projects

Students lead an evidence-based intervention, write a report published in our booklet, and present their work at the annual conference.

Bi-directional Mentoring

Students not only receive mentoring but aim to create opportunities for other students as well whether that be through tutoring, workshops, or running a student organization.

Narrative Presentations

Scholars work to provide others with a voice. Students will expand to the medical humanities to understand and share the stories of others in a medical context. This includes writing, photography, and cinematography.

Research & Discovery

Scholars aim to not only impact communities but also consolidate or expand on knowledge to others. Scholars will conduct Comparative Analyses and Literature Reviews to expose them to the world of research.

Fundraising

A useful skill for running a program is knowing how to raise money to effectively operate. Learn how to advertise, approach, and thank your donors. Students will fundraise for a cause of their choice. If students create a student organization, they can fundraise to provide their group with a budget.

Global Health and Leadership Conference

Give a presentation at the conference about your projects, your research, and your experiences.

Learn About Global Health

Through the GHLC, you will have the opportunity to learn from Harvard affiliates about many areas of global health.

Impact Communities

Students are paired with a Harvard student mentor to help guide students in creating evidence-based and cost-effective community interventions.

Grow as a Leader

Our students engage with projects that help them develop the confidence and skills that are necessary to be a successful leader.
